Becoming Honest With Ourselves

Artical Meditation Benefits

We all want to present our best side to the world.  It’s in our nature to want to look good and make a favorable impression.  But eventually, this wears us down and can become hard to maintain.  And then what happens?

There’s an old saying…’You only hurt the ones you love.’

Stress can be a hidden destroyer of our dreams and goals.  It can stop us from moving forward on our life path to perfection.

Think about it.  First, something happens that upsets you.  It can be a situation at work, it can be something happening to a family member or yourself, it can be that you lost a bet on the golf course.  Anything can start you off.  As your life moves on, if you don’t relieve the stress and get rid of the baggage that comes along with it, you may find yourself struggling to put on that happy face.  Some people bury these stressful things deep inside and others are able let them go.

Becoming honest with yourself can be very healing.  Not only for us, but for the relationships we have with others.

If you’re one of those who don’t know what is causing your stress or you just want to get control of your life, then daily meditation can help you understand and release the stress.

I find that writing a letter to the one that has upset me, expressing in great detail what I think about them, and then shredding the letter, is a great way to get thing off my chest and yet not burn my bridges behind me.  I used this method when I first got married.  It can work for any situation you have issues with.  Whether it is your boss or a co-worker, another member of  a group you belong to. Surely you can think of someone.

Then there was the method I employed when my kids reached adolescence.  Talking into the mirror and really letting my feelings fly was great therapy for me, and again, I did not directly hurt the ones I loved.

When I first started meditating it was to understand myself, how I set myself up, and because I wanted to quit being so….crabby. I started having knee jerk reactions to things and I did not like who I was becoming.

Meditation can be alot of things to many people.  Anyone who meditates regularly can tell you about their stories and accomplishments resulting from meditating. Athletes have improved their game, businesses have benefited from the clarity of mind and the energy that meditation brings to its’ employees.  People of all walks of life have become happy and joyful because they do something for themselves everyday.

Get started today by taking time for yourself.

Before starting your meditation, quietly think about some of the issues you would like resolved. Ask for guidance and be open to whatever comes tro mind.  Don’t be surprised if  other things become resolved. Don’t be surprised if you think nothing has been resolved.  It may be resolved  some time in the future. That is very common with meditation. Meditation is an ongoing process that makes you feel good and opens your mind and heart  to higher energy. Enlightenment comes when you least expect it.
